কোন verb এর কাজ কখন সংগঠিত হয় , হয়েছিল বা হবে তা নির্দেশ করার  জন্য  ঐ verb এঁর যে রূপ গুলো ব্যবহার হয় তাদেরকে Tense বলে 

ইংরেজিতে ৬ ধরনের Tense আছে ।
১) Present tense 
Present tense এ positive statement এর ক্ষেত্রে  তিন ধরনের বিবরণ পাওয়া যায় । 
প্রথমটা হল  Simple present 
দ্বিতীয়টা হল Progressive
তৃতীয়টা হল Emphatic

Simple present  :   We know , you say , He rides 
Progressive : I am rushing , You are moving , He is standing still
Emphatic : I do move , He does rides 
Question অথবা negative statement এঁর ক্ষেত্রে সাধারণত  Progressive এবং Emphatic এঁর গঠন ব্যবহার করা হয় 
Progressive : Are you coming ? She is not coming 
Emphatic : Does he swims ? They do not swim


২) Past tense 
    Past tense এ positive statement এর ক্ষেত্রে  তিন ধরনের বিবরণ পাওয়া যায় ।
প্রথমটা হল  Simple past
দ্বিতীয়টা হল Progressive
তৃতীয়টা হল Emphatic

Simple past : I took , You jumped, She sank 
Progressive : He was flying , We were laughing 
Emphatic : You did believe , They did prove 

Question অথবা negative statement এঁর ক্ষেত্রে সাধারণত  Progressive এবং Emphatic এঁর গঠন ব্যবহার করা হয় 


৩) Present perfect tense 
I have shown her the ring 
Have you been here long ?
He has filled the tub 


৪)Past perfect tense 
We had been in the new house for a week 
You had come to visit us
Had she set the table yet ?


৫) Future tense 

We will not leave 
You will be having dinner 


৬) Future perfect tense 

He shall have seen them before you do 
Will they have escaped
